Here is our continuing coverage of Saturday night’s All-Female Tribute Band Benefit Concert at the Dakota Music Lounge in Santa Monica.
Three fabulous, all-female tribute bands shared the stage to raise money and awareness for CATS: Center for Assault Treatment Services — Lynette Skynyrd, Allison Chains and Lady Zep. CLICK HERE to view our post featuring Lynette Skynyrd. CLICK HERE to view our post featuring Lady Zep.
Today’s spotlight is on the ass-kicking Allison Chains — the world’s only all-female tribute to 90’s grunge phenomenon Alice In Chains. Allison Chains delivered heavy riffs and unique harmonies, creating the haunting, tortured sound that put Alice In Chains at the forefront of Seattle’s early grunge bands. Members Allison, Felicia, Leanne and P-Nut authentically and passionately recreate the legendary Layne Stayley’s wailing rage, Jerry Cantrell’s melodic fervor and the grinding rhythms of Mike Inez and Sean Kinney.
The entire performance space at the awesome Dakota Lounge (where we will be doing more shows in the future) was alive with a throng that, while short of the mosh pits I swirled in back in the 90’s, was still pretty cool and didn’t end up giving me a black eye. Here is a slide show of pics of Allison Chains’ performance. Stay tuned for more coverage.
