Band Review – Armada at The Troubadour

Band-Review-Badge-v1We saw an epic show at the world-famous Troubadour Tuesday night, 3 amazing bands that complemented each other so much that it was like watching different acts of a perfectly-executed movie.

We were invited to cruise out by Ocelot Robot, who were opening for headliner Attaloss along with some other cool bands; more on those guys later. We arrived as the band ARMADA was taking the stage in front of a packed audience. Armada is Cody Page – vocals, guitar, wizard (level 8); Eddie Core – drums, rambo; Jeremy Gruber – bass, keys, orienteering and Rob Calhoun – guitar, chef.

From their FB Page: Armada are a powerful four piece cranking out soulful indie rock from the bleeding heart of Los Angeles. Brain meets brawn with sharp, earthy lyrics wrapped in classic, rough-and-tumble songwriting. This is what might happen if Spoon, Wilco, and Black Rebel Motorcycle ClubArmada_18-sm threw a pool party with Queens of the Stone Age scoring the water ballet.

That’s a mighty mouthful to live up to, but Armada definitely made new fans out of us. They have an LP out and they’re working on a new one, too. Find them in all the usual places: Band Website, Bandcamp, Google Music Store, MySpace, YT, ReverbNation, The61, CDBaby, Twitter and Soundcloud. Here are a few pics we snapped of Armada from the show!
