Band Review — Black Sabbitch

January 2, 2013 by shockboxtv

Band-Review-Badge-v1Yeah, you read it right– Black Sabbitch, THE all-female Black Sabbath.  Call them a tribute band and they’ll kick your effin’ ass… and trust me, they can.  Black Sabbitch plays spot-on songs from the legendary original (Ozzy/Tony/Geezer/Bill) Black Sabbath lineup, and they ROCK.

We caught their show on Saturday at El Cid, our new favorite place to go and see bands play.  After the tables cleared from the dinner/Flamenco dancing show in the restaurant, the whole venue transforms into a bonafide rock club.  El Cid’s Booking Director Kelly Spencer keeps the transition smooth, making artists and patrons alike feel welcome and stirring up excitement for what’s to come.  After warming up with The Woolly Bandits, we were treated to an AMAZING show featuring Bloody Mary Powers (vox), Blare N. Bitch (gtr), Melanie Makaiwi (bss) and Angie Scarpa (drms).  Black Sabbitch stays true to note-perfect renditions of Sabbath’s early hits (plus a few surprises never played in a live set by the boys) without trying to BE anything other than what they are– 4 extremely talented, tough-as-nails ladies who have years of experience

playing great performances to packed houses.  My head ached from banging it SO HARD to “War Pigs” and “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”.  This is NOT a show to miss!  Check out our Black Sabbitch Gallery of photos from the show.

Oh yeah, and let us know when and where YOUR band is playing by emailing us at!!!
